Prospector Unavailable Starting November 7, 2016


The Health Sciences Library is in the process of migrating to a new system. Beginning Monday, November 7, 2016, Prospector services will be temporarily suspended as part of the migration. Prospector services will be restored within the next several months. We will notify the Anschutz Medical Campus community when services resume. Please watch for updates.

You will still have options for requesting materials during the Prospector downtime.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL): Please create an ILL (Illiad) account to place requests for books and articles held at other libraries. ILL services will be limited to academic material. ILLiad is a free service for most Anschutz Medical Campus faculty, staff, and students. Please visit our webpage. Your Public Library: If you are looking for popular fiction or leisure reading, please visit your local public library. Most libraries in the metro area are members of Prospector and can help you with this service.

What is Prospector?


Prospector is a regional union catalog that includes participating libraries within Colorado and Wyoming. This catalog allows patrons to request items from any participating library and have them sent via courier to their local library for pickup. This service is free for all members of participating Prospector libraries.


Who can request Prospector materials?

Any library patron who has an active Health Sciences Library card. This includes Health Sciences faculty, staff and students as well as paid card holders.

What can be requested?

Any item(s) that circulate at the owning library. This includes books, videos, CD's etc. but DOES NOT include photocopies. Patrons will be notified via e-mail if a request is not available for loan. Each Prospector library has its own restrictions.

How to search and request items using Prospector:

Patrons can connect to Prospector by clicking on the Prospector icon located on any member library catalog. Generally you should do a search in the member library catalog first, then look for the Prospector icon.

Prospector can also be accessed directly at http://prospectorhome.coalliance.org/. Patrons can search items by authors, titles, keywords, subject headings etc. To request an item, choose the "Request Item" option, select your library affiliation, type in your name and institutional ID number, select a pickup location, and submit the request.

When will the materials arrive?

Most requests take an average of 3 working days to arrive at the borrowers library. You will be notified via e-mail when the item(s) arrive, so make sure your e-mail address is current with the circulation department. Contact Health Sciences Library Circulation at 303-724-2152 to make sure your library registration is active and that we have a current email address for you.

Where can materials be delivered?

Materials can be delivered to "HSL Service Desk" at the Health Sciences Library where they will be held for 10 days on the hold shelf for pickup after your email notification.

What is the loan period?

The initial checkout period for Prospector items is 21 days after which they may be renewed once for another 21 days. Patrons can renew their items online or contact the circulation desk at: 303-724-2152.
