Lucia Thornton ThD, RN, MSN, AHN-BC
Dr. Thornton is a past-president of the American Holistic Nurses Association and has been involved in nursing and holistic healing for over 35 years. She helped develop the process of Board Certification in Holistic Nursing and served as the first Executive Director for the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation.
For the past 20 years Lucia has created seminars for hospitals and communities that focus on health, healing, and wellness. Her work in transforming hospitals and organizations into “healing and healthy environments” has received national, state and local recognition including the Norman Cousins Award. Dr. Thornton recently authored the book Whole Person Caring: An Interprofessional Model for Healing and Wellness.
Participants will be provided with an overview of the key concepts of Whole Person Caring. This award-winning model of care creates a common framework that healthcare professionals can use to create health and wellness in their personal and professional life. Participants will experience self-care and self-healing practices that they can teach their patients and integrate into their own lives. The importance of accessing and acknowledging our spiritual and energetic essence to create optimal health will be explored.
