Library Wishes 2013

If you could have three library wishes, what would they be?

During the month of July 2013, the Health Sciences Library asked our users to let us know what three wishes they would request from a library genie. The library staff wanted to use this information to assist in creating a new strategic plan.

The library was thrilled to receive 108 submissions for a total of 352 wishes! The most popular type of wish was for an addition to the library’s collection – a book, journal, database, or other type of resource.  The Library’s Collection Management department is researching those requests right now.

The library wanted to share all 352 wishes that were received. The wishes can be viewed below. Additionally, if a wish could be “granted” right now, that information is included in the Comment column.

The library will continue working on updating its strategic plan and are hoping to share a draft in early fall.

It would be amazing if there were more cubicles for single study. I can't use the booths because I get really claustrophobic in the tiny space. The only cubicles I've found were in the Quiet Study Room, but the room gets stuffy, hot, and dare I say, smelly? More open cubicles incorporated throughout the library, not in an enclosed space, would be amazing!

Reactivation of the Henry Stewart Talks subscription. This is a great source of information for all the scientific community in our campus. It's an easy and convenient way to learn about other techniques and applications, and different areas of biomedical research, which will further our scientific background and open our horizons for a better research. I was in the middle of two series when the subscription expired.

Call me crazy, it would be great to have an assigned librarian? Or, is this something that would simply impossible. Of course it is always great to speak with anyone of the librarians.

Online courses to learn to use some of the resources like end note etc...maybe there already is something like that and I do not know.

A way for people not affiliated with the university to access some of the data bases? Preceptors and people who teach us should be able to benefit and we push EBP but many only have access to Medscape.

I wish you would increase your # journal subscriptions, instead of continually decreasing them. Our university is WAY below other universities and the standard and it is a huge inconvenience.

I really wish you would increase your # journal subscriptions, instead of continually decreasing them. Our university is WAY below other universities and the standard and it is a huge inconvenience.

I REALLY, REALLY wish you would increase your # journal subscriptions, instead of continually decreasing them. Our university is WAY below other universities and the standard and it is a huge inconvenience.
